Manufacturing Pathways Program

Basic Certification

Basic certification is an introduction to advanced manufacturing. Students receive basic training in math, communication and teamwork while learning manufacturing terms and processes, safety and other workplace skills. Persons who already have manufacturing experience may test out to earn Basic certification. Persons with no manufacturing background may take the 40-hour course and receive personalized attention to improve their basic skills and earn certification. Students also create or upgrade their resum├ęs according to standards preferred by employers. During the Basic class, students receive information on Intermediate certificates under the WCOMC. Staff from the Rhodes State College's financial aid department assist students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), enabling them to see if they qualify for Pell grant money or other financial aid for education after the Basic pathway class.

Intermediate Certification

The intermediate certificate is designed to reinforce the skills taught in the Basic certification. In addition to those skills taught in the Basic certification, students receive hands-on training in process control/improvement, math/measurement, quality systems, and computers. Intermediate certificates are available from Rhodes State College in Electrical, Robotics, CNC Machining, PLC, Environmental-Health-Safety, Quality, Welding and Process Operating. Certificates are available from Apollo Career Center in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Multi-Craft Industrial Technology and Welding & Fabrication. Certificates are offered from Ohio Hi Point in Integrated Systems Technology and HVAC.

Advanced Certification

The advanced certification is designed to build upon the skills taught in the Basic and Intermediate skill levels. However, students now begin focusing on advanced technical skills in specific disciplines of manufacturing. These disciplines include Mechanical, Electrical, Quality Process Operator, Designing Engineering, and others. Completion of the advanced certification is an associate's or bachelor's degree in one of several manufacturing specialties.
